LOVE island wood, and our verdant island with its frequent duck crossings. and "last child in the woods" was also influential on our decision to get off the grid a bit, so that our boys might have access to the "natural world," without which the soul withers and the mind loses its grip. the anecdote that killed me, from that book, was the inner city kids with ADHD and the like who, when simply exposed to the Great Outdoors, unfolded into the experience, their symptoms — spurred by constant immersion in human construct — fell magically away.

OK, how is it possible that we still have not been to Islandwood? Thank you for this beautiful overview - you have propelled me into action! As an aside, we do have O signed up for two of their summer programs, too! I have no idea which ones. Something about Fairies or some such. xoxo
