My bug just boarded the bus, too. I feel very teary today. I feel relieved to have some time alone but also regret that this chapter in our lives is now complete. I wish that the time alone with Syd had been easier. I wish that I wasn’t such an idealist so that I could have just relaxed and enjoyed our time together more. But, that is not me and, it seems, that is not her. My daughter Sydney and I are two independent gals and I think that will be the source of our joy in life together and probably our conflicts.

i can relate! these little ships sail off so fast! who knew school starting would be a wistful time for moms (mine never hinted at that, that i recall)?? we want them to dive in, but we miss them when they do…and are proud at the same time. ah, motherhood!
